The Hall County Board of Education establishes school attendance zones, and new students register at their zoned community school. Please see the HCSD School Attendance Map to find schools of assignment for addresses within the Hall County School District. Please consult the Student Services website for more information about student registration, enrollment, and required proofs of residence.
Most students attend the school in the established attendance zone where they reside, unless a transfer request is granted in compliance with federal and state law; State Board of Education rules; and Hall County School District rules, policies, and procedures. Types of approved transfers include acceptance to a program of choice or magnet school; assignment of children of employees; school choice through House Bill 251; and out-of-district (tuition) enrollments.
Hall County Schools does not provide bus transportation to and from school for transfer students; parents are responsible for transfer student’s transportation to and from school.

- Transfer Requests through House Bill 251 are available each year during an announced application period; for the 2026-2027 school year, in-district transfer requests will be accepted from November 3 – December 12, 2025 for 1st – 12th grade students only. Kindergarten transfer application will open up early March 2026.

- The deadline for new applications for Out-of-District students to attend in 2026-2027 has passed with the exception of the Virtual Program of Choice.

Transfer Application Timeline for 2026-2027
In-District Transfer Requests: To enroll your child in kindergarten, parents/guardians must first register their child in their zoned school during the kindergarten registration period. (Please refer to the School Attendance Map at School Attendance Zones – Hall County Schools to find the zoned school.) Once kindergarten students are registered to their zoned schools, parents/guardians may complete a Transfer Request Form via the 2026-2027 Kindergarten HB 251 transfer application.
For students entering 1 st – 12 th grade, parents may complete a transfer request form from November 3 – December 12, 2025. Information regarding all transfers will be posted at: Transfer Information – Hall County Schools by November 3, 2025.
